Looking out the window

Well as I was sitting thinking about fishing today, I heard a car door shut out in front of the house. I got up to cure the boredom, and there it was, “A big king”. The young boy in the pic was the winner today. I did not get alot of the story from them on the fight. I was told that they did not think it was a fish at first, but just hung up. Then as the line came up to about twenty feet from the boat, the fish finally revealed itself, and the fight was on!. I got a few good pics of the fish. I am hoping my venture up to the Peninsula this next week will produce some nice fish. Also heard a report that the Sandy is getting a bunch of Natives right now. I am leaving to head back to Alaska in just a few short days, I think I have 10 days left. So if I don’t post before that, then be ready for some great photo’s and video’s for the next 6 months.

Flymstr;

Still a few around to be had this winter.

Well I found some water with some fish in it today, and went 3 for 7 today. Two of them were nice natives, and 1 really nice hatch hen. I had one on today that I think was pushing the 20 lbs mark, and she was pure chrome. I lost her though, so I will never know what she really had to her, but she was nice. Here are some pics from today, hopefully I can continue to fish this water with good results.

Not many to be had.

Well we are still picking up a few here and there, but not on fire by any means. I am going to keep trying until they get here. My buddy’s got some today, but I lost one and that was it. Here are some pics and a vid from the last 3 trips out.

Slowed way down.

Well if I had to bet on it, I would say the best bet is down in the canyon of Eagle. Up at the hatch holes is empty now for a while. So head on down to the deep holes to find them hiding in this low water. Got one today down low in the rocks.

Aaron;

Here they come!!

Now that the water is back shape, we can get down to business. The flood left the rivers I fish in a shambles. The rocks, trees, and even what seems to be the river itself has moved into a new position. This season is going to be a learning experience I can tell. All the rocks and structure I have gotten to know over the last 30 some years, have moved and some are gone completely. It slightly baffles the mind to think of the force it took to move some of those massive boulders and trees around. There are rocks that I have stood on for my whole life, that are now no where in site. Guess it’s about time to learn it all over again. I fished every day from the flood on, and no fish for me until the last couple of days. I have spent some time with my two friends out on the water, and between the 3 of us, we have managed to hook up with 28 fish, and land only 5. The water is still moving good, and the fish are feisty right now. Here are some pics from the last couple trip out from the three of us.

It could be worse.

As we are all aware of here in the area, there was some major flooding the last couple of days. Well I went out today to see my favorite creek, and to witness the destruction. I will try to explane it the best I can for those that know this area. The top slot had two trees that had recently fallen across the river, “They are gone and no where in site”. We had a big cedar tree come down last year, and it is also gone down river. The cedar tree had caused the water to run around the outside of what we call the “Log hole”. Well that is not the case now, with the cedar tree now jammed in below the log hole and above the birthday hole, the water is now running on the inside again and the log hole should be back to somewhat normal flows. With the cedar tree now below the log hole, this will make it a challenge to land any big boys that run on down. Now the big log that was across the river at the top of the log hole, “The log that created the log hole” is gone down river a half mile and has dug in just above the table top hole. It is about three feet out of the water and is not in the way at all. Good place for this log to end up. So from what I saw today, without being able see the bottom at all. I would say that this may have cleaned up the creek for the best as of now. Hope it all turns out as good as it looks. I went to the hatchery and the doors are now open, so the fish are going to go on in and the count now begins. Let’s all cross our fingers and pray the fish don’t all run up and in in the next three days like they did 4 years ago.
