The Salt water and the fresh water have all been great so far this month. The Sockeye’s are over 10,000 above the weir, and the Halibut are everywhere in the salt. Here are some great pics from this last week. I am leaving in 24 hours to head back to Oregon for 10 days, and I will see you all back in Yakutat on the 7th of July. See ya again then, should be some posts from Oregon King fishing this next week.

Sockeye fishing at it’s best

Been a bit slower this season compared to the last 10, but the people are coming in now, and the fish are also showing up in good numbers. I have had a few good trips so far this month, and all the Clients have been great. No good jump shots yet, but here are some great pics from these trips. I am heading home for a 10 day vacation to chase some kings around Oregon. I will be updating from there everyday. I went out last night and got fifty Sockeye in three hours. Not to bad! No pics though, just get em’ and let em’ out.

The Franklin group:Nat, Pete, Kevin, and Brett

This group is one of my favorite from the last 7 years. I have seen these boys turn into men, and they get better every year. Kevin is in College now and is kicking butt. Also kicking butt on the boxing team. When this young man was only 12 or 13, his brother and I nicknamed him “Little Stiffie”. Since then he has grown up, and the name just doesn’t fit anymore. Brett has also grown up a lot, and is a great young man to be around. They have also become great fisherman, out doing there Grandpa and Father both days on the water. Nat is there Dad, and you can’t say enough good things about a Man that has boys like this. This was there Grandpa’s first trip up, and he had a great time, and caught plenty of fish for the first time around. Hope to see you all next season.

Forget the internship and come fishing “Stiffie” LOL.

The Scott’s: Mark, Frank, Steve

This group is a great group of Firemen. They have been coming now for some time, and I hope to see them for years to come. We had a half day together, and although the fishing was a bit tough, they did great, and the rest of the trip was also a great success.

Second chance Bill, and â€œJean!”

This was by far the fun nest time on the river this year. Jean and Bill won the online auction from the Yakutatlodge.com site. Anyone can sign up for the news letter and get in on these deals. While Jean and Bill were here, there were no other boats on the river, and the Steelhead were still in the river in good numbers. I had the pleasure of spending four days with this great couple. Bill and I had one day on our own, while Jean searched the big water water for halibut. Bill brought an even dozen to the boat on this day, and it was just down right fun to spend that time on the water will Bill that day. Jean and Bill have fished primarily with “Randy”, (One of the great guides we had here for years), so this was my first chance to spend time with the two of them, and I can see why Randy talked to highly of them. We had a great time together, the fishing was great, the weather was good, and all went well. Bill and Jean will be returning for Silvers in September, so I will see them again soon. Here are the pics from the trip.

Second time around for Dave Bryce. I have not had time to get all my posts up like I would like to, but here is one from a great guy, and all his groups are great also. We got into the double ups this time, with Steelhead and Sockeye in the river. Water levels are low and clear, but fish are still around, and the Sockeye’s are on the march up river now. Not many over the weir, but they are arriving in the system on every tide. Here are the pics from both of bryce’s trips up.
