Got down to the coast today and killed the chums. First Chums for Donny Hunter from Jersey, and Tommy, AKA (“youngbuck”). We had a great time. These are the pics from the day.

Producing some real nice fish the last two days, and hoping for one more shot before the rain and hopefully then the chums. Here are the pics from today. Also a nice shot of some cutties. Was a good day, except I broke my very expensive sage. Second one in two days. If this keeps up I can only fish 21 more days before I am out of rods. Sucks.

Wow what a successful day today. I have a friend from New Jersey (Donny Hunter), here visiting for the next two weeks, and we go em’ today. We had a bit of a slow start, but the fish started to move around 9 and it was on. We got into over 30 fish, and landed over 50%. All species were on the menu, Kings, Silvers, Steelhead, and even a cutthroat. What a great day.

I have been having trouble getting posts up on here lately. The Silvers are in thick, and the clients are boating over 50 a day. I will try to get everything fixed and get pics to you before the end of the week.

Thanks for your patience.

Pinks are arriving.

Well the pinks are showing up in big schools now, and will soon take over the river. Not to many pics as of yet, but they will be coming by the tons in the next two weeks. Here are some that I have taken this last week. Also the Jack Kings are in the river in big numbers this year also. Hopefully this means a good King run next season.

Sockeye’s

Sorry about the delays on the posting’s. The internet here only works when it wants to. I have tried several times to update the site, but never can get anything through. Hope this one works. I am lumping all the sockeye together in hopes that I can get them all up in one shot.

The Sockeye season was great. One of the best I have ever seen. The count as of yesterday, was at 78,000 sockeye over the weir. Pinks are now showing up in good numbers, and the Sockeye season is winding down. Kings were never open this year, and only a few were caught incidentally. The king count never made it over 200 passed the weir, so this was a bad year for the Kings.

Here are the pics from the last month. Also am going to do a post on the kings in Oregon later this week. We got some great jump shots of big kings.

The Salt water and the fresh water have all been great so far this month. The Sockeye’s are over 10,000 above the weir, and the Halibut are everywhere in the salt. Here are some great pics from this last week. I am leaving in 24 hours to head back to Oregon for 10 days, and I will see you all back in Yakutat on the 7th of July. See ya again then, should be some posts from Oregon King fishing this next week.

Sockeye fishing at it’s best

Been a bit slower this season compared to the last 10, but the people are coming in now, and the fish are also showing up in good numbers. I have had a few good trips so far this month, and all the Clients have been great. No good jump shots yet, but here are some great pics from these trips. I am heading home for a 10 day vacation to chase some kings around Oregon. I will be updating from there everyday. I went out last night and got fifty Sockeye in three hours. Not to bad! No pics though, just get em’ and let em’ out.

The Franklin group:Nat, Pete, Kevin, and Brett

This group is one of my favorite from the last 7 years. I have seen these boys turn into men, and they get better every year. Kevin is in College now and is kicking butt. Also kicking butt on the boxing team. When this young man was only 12 or 13, his brother and I nicknamed him “Little Stiffie”. Since then he has grown up, and the name just doesn’t fit anymore. Brett has also grown up a lot, and is a great young man to be around. They have also become great fisherman, out doing there Grandpa and Father both days on the water. Nat is there Dad, and you can’t say enough good things about a Man that has boys like this. This was there Grandpa’s first trip up, and he had a great time, and caught plenty of fish for the first time around. Hope to see you all next season.

Forget the internship and come fishing “Stiffie” LOL.

The Scott’s: Mark, Frank, Steve

This group is a great group of Firemen. They have been coming now for some time, and I hope to see them for years to come. We had a half day together, and although the fishing was a bit tough, they did great, and the rest of the trip was also a great success.

Second chance Bill, and â€œJean!”

This was by far the fun nest time on the river this year. Jean and Bill won the online auction from the Yakutatlodge.com site. Anyone can sign up for the news letter and get in on these deals. While Jean and Bill were here, there were no other boats on the river, and the Steelhead were still in the river in good numbers. I had the pleasure of spending four days with this great couple. Bill and I had one day on our own, while Jean searched the big water water for halibut. Bill brought an even dozen to the boat on this day, and it was just down right fun to spend that time on the water will Bill that day. Jean and Bill have fished primarily with “Randy”, (One of the great guides we had here for years), so this was my first chance to spend time with the two of them, and I can see why Randy talked to highly of them. We had a great time together, the fishing was great, the weather was good, and all went well. Bill and Jean will be returning for Silvers in September, so I will see them again soon. Here are the pics from the trip.
